Very poor communication and lack of transparency – not as expected Positive: The apartment was clean, and Battersea is a well connected area, close to Clapham Junction. Negative: I booked this apartment through Booking.com based on the reviews and listing details, but the overall experience was extremely disappointing and stressful. After booking, I was unexpectedly contacted via WhatsApp and from there directed through multiple third-party platforms (Hostaway, ChargeAutomation, KeyNest, Hostfully) to provide ID, personal details and pay a significant deposit in advance of my stay. None of this was clearly or transparently explained at the time of booking, and the fragmented communication across different apps and company names was confusing and concerning as I had to click into various links etc. It was also unclear who actually manages the property, with references to different organisations (including London Co-Stay), which added to the lack of confidence and accountability. I was expected to communicate with some individual (not sure was it an AI bot or not) via the Hostaway WhatsApp messages for the duration of my stay, which was very unsettling. On arrival, several issues further impacted the stay such as an alarm going off inside the apartment with no immediate support, which was a huge concern as we had no number to call in case of such emergencies. There was also ongoing construction noise within the complex upon our arrival (Number 175), which was not disclosed in advance. While the apartment itself was acceptable (albeit the layout of the en suite bathroom was poorly designed, leading to lack of adequate space within), the overall guest experience was chaotic, poorly managed, and far below what I would expect from a Booking.com-listed property. Clearer upfront disclosure, consistent communication, and basic operational standards would have made a significant difference. I would advise future guests to proceed with caution unless these issues are addressed

It’s a lively area, but I appreciated being so central, and earplugs made it easy to sleep. The space is exactly as shown in the photos — compact but very well designed. Overall, an excellent stay and great value for money.

I slept well with earplugs provided, and it felt safe coming back in the evenings. I also appreciated how clear the host was about the deposit and house rules before arrival, so there were no surprises. Overall, it’s ideal for solo travellers or couples who want a cosy, well-kept base close to transport and city amenities.
